The University of Manchester has been at the forefront of research to understand the implications of ageing populations and the experiences of people in later life, in order to inform policy developments at international, national and local levels.

I have written about this subject for many years and was commissioned to produce this special report that presented the key findings from a major five-year project into wellbeing in later life. The report, which was unveiled at a launch event, was widely acclaimed for helping to articulate key policy issues in this complex area.
